Overview
PDFExtract is designed to process your PDF files locally on your device. In the current version, PDF import, text extraction, image extraction, OCR processing, project storage, and export generation are handled on-device.
Information We Process
When you use PDFExtract, the app may process:
- PDF files you choose to import
- Extracted text generated from PDFs
- Extracted images saved from PDFs
- Markdown files generated from extracted content
- Project metadata such as file name, page count, extraction status, timestamps, and local file paths
- OCR preferences you configure, such as recognition languages and related settings
How Your Information Is Used
PDFExtract uses this information only to provide app functionality, including:
- Importing and opening PDF files
- Unlocking password-protected PDFs when you provide a password
- Extracting text and embedded images
- Running on-device OCR for scanned or image-based pages
- Generating Markdown output
- Saving projects so you can reopen and manage previous imports
- Exporting extracted results when you choose to share or save them
On-Device Processing
In the current version of PDFExtract, your documents and extracted content are processed locally on your device. The app does not upload your PDFs, extracted text, extracted images, or generated Markdown to our servers.
Data Storage
Imported PDFs and generated outputs are stored in the app's local storage on your device so you can access them later. This may include:
- The original imported PDF
- Extracted image files
- Generated Markdown files
- Project records stored locally in the app's database
Temporary export ZIP files may also be created on-device when you choose to export extracted content.
Sharing and Exports
PDFExtract only shares files when you explicitly choose to do so using iOS sharing features or export actions. Once you share a file to another app or service, that destination's privacy practices will apply.
Password-Protected PDFs
If you import a password-protected PDF, the password is used only to unlock the document for import and processing on your device. In the current version, the app does not send that password to our servers.
Analytics, Tracking, and Advertising
In the current version, PDFExtract does not use third-party advertising SDKs, does not track you across apps or websites, and does not use analytics services to profile your behavior.
Third-Party Services
In the current version, PDFExtract does not require account registration and does not rely on a cloud backend to process your documents.
Your Choices
You can control your data by:
- Choosing which PDFs to import
- Deleting projects from within the app
- Deciding whether to export or share extracted files
- Adjusting OCR language and recognition settings locally on your device
If you delete a project in the app, its related local project files are intended to be removed from the app's managed storage.
Children's Privacy
PDFExtract is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date above.
