AppShots Privacy Policy

AppShots (“the app”, “we”, “us”) is a Mac app for designing App Store screenshots — device frames, multi-language captions, and cross-screen panoramas. We built it to be privacy-first: your projects, screenshots, and settings live on your Mac, not on our servers. This policy explains exactly what the app stores, what (if anything) leaves your device, and why.

Summary (the short version)

• We do not collect, store, or sell your personal data.
• We have no servers and no user accounts. There is nothing to sign up for.
• Your projects, screenshots, and layouts stay on your Mac, in the app’s local storage.
• No analytics, no tracking, no advertising, no third-party SDKs.
• The app only reaches the network in two optional situations you control: AI translation (using your own API key) and subscription purchases (handled by Apple). See below.

Information the app uses

Your projects and screenshots

Everything you create — screenshot designs, imported images, text captions, layers, layout templates, and custom fonts you upload — is stored locally on your Mac in the app’s built-in database and file storage. This data never leaves your device except through actions you take yourself (for example, exporting a ZIP to a folder you choose). Deleting a project removes it from your Mac.

AI translation settings

If you use the optional AI translation feature, the app stores your chosen provider, model, and API key locally on your Mac so you don’t have to re-enter them. This key is kept on your device and is sent only to the AI provider you configured, and only when you run a translation (see “Network connections”).

Network connections

AppShots works fully offline for its core features. There are only two situations where the app connects to the internet, both optional and both initiated by you:

1. AI translation (optional, off until you set it up)

When you click AI translate, the app sends the screenshot caption text you want translated to the AI provider you have chosen and configured — either Anthropic (Claude) or OpenAI (or another OpenAI-compatible endpoint you specify) — authenticated with your own API key.

• Only the caption text to be translated is sent. No account, identity, or device information is attached (there is no account).
• The request goes directly from your Mac to that provider using your key. Your use of their API is governed by that provider’s terms and privacy policy (for example, Anthropic or OpenAI).
• We (MZSoft Studio) never receive, proxy, or see this text or your API key.
• If you never configure a key or never run an AI translation, the app makes no such request.

2. Subscriptions (AppShots Pro)

If you purchase AppShots Pro, the transaction is handled entirely by Apple’s StoreKit / the App Store. We do not process or receive your payment details. Apple’s handling of your purchase is governed by Apple’s Privacy Policy.

Fonts used for rendering are bundled with the app; the app does not fetch fonts or any other resources from the web at runtime.

What we do NOT do

• We do not collect analytics or usage statistics.
• We do not use advertising or tracking SDKs.
• We do not upload your screenshots or projects to us or to any third party.
• We do not create profiles or sell, rent, or share any data.
• We do not require an account, email address, or any personal information.

Children’s privacy

AppShots does not knowingly collect any personal information from anyone, including children under 13.

Your control over your data

Because everything is stored locally, you are in full control:

• Delete a project: remove it in the app — it’s gone from your Mac.
• Remove your AI key: clear it in the app’s AI settings at any time.
• Delete all data: delete the app, or clear its data from your Mac.
• Stay fully offline: simply don’t use AI translation — the app needs no network for anything else.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, we will update the “Last updated” date above and publish the revised version with the app.
