PrivShot Privacy Policy
Last updated: 2026-07-14
Overview
PrivShot is built to protect privacy. It blurs faces and personal information in your photos on your device, before anything is saved or shared. This policy explains what the app accesses, how that access is used, and the choices you have.
Data We Collect
PrivShot does not collect, transmit, or sell any personal data. It has no accounts and no servers. The app requests only the device permissions it needs to do its job:
- Camera access: used to take photos in the app. Faces are blurred on-device before anything is saved — the original, un-redacted image never touches disk.
- Photo Library access: used to import the photos you choose to blur, and to save the redacted results back to your library.
- Microphone access: used only if you record a video with sound; the audio is written solely to the redacted file on your device.
How We Use Data
- Detect sensitive regions — faces, and text such as phone numbers, ID and passport numbers, addresses, bank card numbers, and company credit codes — using Apple’s on-device Vision and Natural Language frameworks together with bundled on-device models. This processing happens entirely on your device.
- Blur those regions into the pixels before the image is saved or shared.
- Strip location and other metadata (EXIF / GPS) from every exported image.
Data Storage
- The original, un-redacted image is processed in memory only and is never written to disk.
- Redacted photos you save are stored on your device — in your Photos library and/or the app’s own on-device library — never on our servers.
- You can delete anything PrivShot has saved at any time.
Sharing
PrivShot does not sell or share your data. Photos leave the app only when you explicitly export or share them using the iOS share sheet, and only in their redacted form.
Third-Party Services
PrivShot uses no third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking services. All detection runs on-device with no network requests. The only network activity is with Apple’s App Store (StoreKit) when you make or restore the one-time PrivShot Pro purchase; those transactions are handled by Apple.
Your Choices
- You can grant or revoke camera, photo library, or microphone permissions at any time in iOS Settings.
- You choose which photos to import, which detected areas to blur, and what to export.
- You can delete saved results from your device at any time.
Children’s Privacy
PrivShot is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from children.
